Reading time: 1 min news NEONnoir

It’s been about eight months since the release of NEONnoir, and in that time, I’ve been making various bug fixes for the engine and the game’s content. I wanted to add features I cut due to time constraints and use NEONnoir as the test game while I start preproduction for the sequel.

This has led me to ask myself, “How much more effort do I want to put into the Blitz Basic codebase?” The best I can say about Blitz Basic is that without it, I would never have been able to create this game. However, the language’s age and lack of modern debugging tools make extending the engine and adding new features much more challenging than it needs to be.

As such, I’ve decided to port the Blitz Basic code to C using the ACE library, and things are looking promising so far! Look for upcoming posts that catalog that journey!

See you next game!
